B i o g r a p h y

Swedish soprano Hima Wikström is a versatile singer with a broad repertoire ranging through art songs, chamber music, opera and church music. She regularly performs around Sweden and Norway and has been seen in concert arrangements in USA, Brazil, Italy and the United Kingdom.

 

She is often described as an expressive singer with an unusually beautiful timbre and a captivating stage presence.

 

A keen recitalist, the art song and lieder repertoire is very special to her and that has led to an ongoing collaboration with acclaimed Norwegian pianist Helge Kjekshus. Furthermore Hilma is working with the Swedish guitarist and composer Mikael Mannberg who has also written several pieces for her.
In February 2016 Hilma sang one of the leading roles in the opera "Kommentarfeltet" during the Opera Festival in Kristiansund, and in August the same year she sang the role of  Electress Marie in the operetta der Vogelhändler with Kompani Hommelvik. She has also worked as an chorister with the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra opera theater/vocal ensemble. During her studies she has performed roles such as Rosalinda (die Fledermaus), Bastienne (Bastien&Bastienne), Philint (die Maikönigin) and the Girl (Dockdoktorn) as well as having participated in several different opera scenes. Hilma has been a soloist in works such as Missa Brevis B-flat (Mozart), "Little Organ Mass" (Haydn), Stabat Mater (Pergolesi), Magnificat (Vivaldi), Förklädd Gud (Larsson) and Il Tramonto (Respighi). She has been a young artist with the festival Glogerfestspillene as well as having performed during Festspelen Piteå, Arnäs Chamber Music Festival and Nyköping International guitar seminar.
In 2013 she won a first place at Georgia NATS.

 

She holds a Master's degree from the Conservatory of Music in Trondheim, her Bachelor's degree from Piteå College of Music/Columbus State University, GA and has also studied at  Härnösand Opera Studio.
